<p>This has been insanity waiting!
Just received email from Baldwin-Wallace conservatory admissions who stated decision letters have been very late in arriving everywhere in the states. S got accepted. Awaiting the mail to see the merit award. We don’t know if they double up the academics merit. Lawrence does not.
Still awaiting Lawrence and Oberlin.
Bard - no on conservatory, yes on college. That made S feel good about his academics.<br>
His double major may be slowing up Oberlin and Lawrence. </p>
<p>And we desired to travel the HS spring break week of April 1 to visit if he got more than one acceptance. At this rate, we may not know! We aren’t spending the $$$ flying unless we have to.</p>

<p>D also had a yes to academics, but no for music- at UMichigan. Got in to LSA EA, but not quite up to their level for the music. She was expecting that.</p>
<p>D received $8,000/yr music scholarship to UIUC in addition to the $12,000/yr academic scholarship reported earlier. Just about makes it affordable.</p>

<p>woodwinds, when you say “we” do you mean yourself, or is this acceptance actually for a son or daughter? I assume that you are going into a BM program, but please correct me if that is wrong. When did you audition for NEC? You are the first one to report an acceptance there and my daughter is also waiting for a decision for an MM in their Contemporary Improvisation department.</p>

Last year my son heard from NEC almost a whole week before his friend heard. Both boys were admitted with scholarship money. I am not sure why that happened. But it might be that each department is on their own time-line.</p>
<p>Woodwinds, NEC is a wonderful place. The atmosphere is very supportive and the creative energy and willingness of students to push boundaries is exciting. Many times this past year my son has said to us that he is glad he decided to go to NEC. </p>
<p>DH and I went on a whim to the student Opera this winter. We did not know any of the students in it and we were pleasantly surprised. It was wonderful.</p>

<p>When and how did you hear about the UIUC music scholarship? We are waiting on music merit there, and when I called they told me by 4/1. I wasn’t sure how they notify or if all instruments come out at the same time.</p>

<p>It is often the case that different departments are in different time lines. That’s why harp or composition majors may hear results before the much larger pool of voice or violin applicants. Knowing that doesn’t make the wait any easier, but at least we know that’s how it is!</p>
