Congratulations to Piano177, whose annoncement on the previous page I somehow missed. Thanks to lastbird for point this out.

My son has made his decision. He will be attending Yale in the fall. He attended a rehearsal of Mahler’s 3rd and I think that sealed the deal. Between the quality of the musicians (both vocal & instrumental) and the acoustics in the hall, he was in 7th heaven. He was also very impressed with the number of extra curricular music opportunities that are available at Yale.

Congratulations to momofmusician17 and son.

Hi Everyone!! I haven’t posted in about a year or so on this board but I am checking in with some good news!!

My DD has accepted an Assistantship at UMass Amherst with their Graduate Woodwind Quintet and will be pursuing her MM in Horn Performance.

She was also offered an Assistantship at Ithaca College (same major) but the UMass offer (full tuition waiver plus living stipend) and the benefit of the Five Colleges affiliation really made an attractive offer.

In case anyone forgot me my DD is a 2012 graduate of SUNY Fredonia (Music Ed).

SJSMom: Good luck to your son at Fredonia!! My DD has many good friends from the trumpet studio there. The Brass faculty at Fredonia are a very fun bunch! Your S will be inserting the names of all of the SOM faculty into regular conversations with you. They treat the students with a lot of respect and friendship there. Excellent choice!

Congratulations to MomOf3Stars and daughter.

S has decided to attend the University of Maryland. Although we are not in-state, we don’t really have an in-state option and it is closer to home than most of his other choices. I am happy to know he’ll be within a couple of hours’ drive or train ride home. Based on several visits, lessons and other due diligence, it seems to be an excellent program though it does not get a lot of “play” here on CC. He’ll be in Gran Wilson’s studio.

Thanks MomOf3Stars! I will pass this along to S and Iam glad to hear he made a good choice. Good luck to your DD.
