Bethievt, Congratulations to you and your son!
TASP is the Telluride Association Summer Program, a free humanities program that takes place at Cornell, UT, Umich or WashU. There is currently a very active CC thread of kids who have applied this year.
Have you and your son visited L&C?

Yes, we visited L & C, but in the summer. Gorgeous campus and Portland is a wonderful city. I've also been in touch with a not-so-recent grad (friend of my brother-in-law) who is now in the foreign service. He absolutely raved about the school. My son chose to apply because of the International focus.

My daughter's awards to date:

College of Wooster -- $16,000
Pacific Lutheran -- $15,000
St. Olaf -- $7,500

Woo hoo!!

Her stats. I don't remember the exact numbers. She does not have a perfect GPA (a few B's and even a C+ ). Her GPA is slightly over 4.0 (weighted). I think! Or at least it was before the C+. SAT 2100+. EC's: mathletes, cross country, environmental club, singing -- interested in languages and science.

Anyway, she is happy as a clam right now, getting these offers . . . The nice thing about both Wooster and PLU is that one does not have to maintain a certain GPA to keep the scholarships. PLU said they would take away the name (Presidential Scholarship) if the GPA goes below a certain threshold, but the student still gets the $$$.

My S just got a letter from Tulane, notifying him that his scholarship offer had been increased from $18k year to $22k year.

Needless to say, there was much rejoicing! It is one of his top three choices at this point, if not the front runner.

WOW, fantastic! Congrats to Moonmaid's S and mstee's D, and all others who've recently received nice offers!

HeliMom - congratulations! I looked at the Hunter Honors College website http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/honorscollege , and that just sounds like such a great opportunity, especially since it includes the generous funds for study abroad. I wish I had known about this for my own son!

D accepted to Denison with Paschal Carter Scholarship. 131K over four years. She has completely managed her college search--I was stunned!
