Masters Degree and PhD in Economics after Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering

Right now I am studying Industrial Engineering . And I am pretty successful . But I decided to be a faculty member of an Economics Department in the future. With a high GPA , is it possible for me to have a Masters Degree and PhD in Economics in a prestigious American University?

Note: I am studying at a University in Europe which offers its courses in English.

Graduate programs in economics are often math-heavy, so the math you take in an industrial engineering major can only help. You may want to include in your electives some economics courses if they are not already included in your industrial engineering major.

Here is an example of recommended preparation for graduate study in economics:

Here is an example of criteria for admissions:

In my university , we are able to select a minor program . Next year, I am planning to start an Economics minor program. If I can succeed, I will learn the basics of the economics. As I study engineering , I am good at math. So I will have all the requirements. But I have a question. Do top universities’ econ grad programs also have some engineering students or can they (IE students) only admit to the top-tier universities?
