Masters Degree in Political Science

I am considering getting a Masters degree in Political Science with a specialization in American Politics. I've been checking online and there's really no good index of good MPS schools. I know that the undergraduate rankings don't necessarily apply to the grad school level so I was wondering if anyone knew of a good index of MPS programs?

One of my professors told me that, in general, public state universities have better grad programs in American politics. Is this true?

Thanks!

They tend to be very involved with the local (and state) government. I went to SUNY Albany for my undergrad (poli sci) and internships were very easy to come by… as well as quality part time and full time jobs in local and state government. SUNY Alb grad school for MPA/MPP is one of the best in the country.
Look at it like this… it better have a great reputation, or be located properly in order to make good connections and get good experience.
Better or worse… who am I to say. (Obviously Ivy League is an exception to this)

You may want to pursue an MPP/MPA if you’re interested in working with the state/federal government.

Most MPP/MPA programs emphasize courses in ethics, policymaking and lobbying.
