I'm looking at a few schools for a masters in sociology. I'm looking towards medical sociology especially. I am curious as to what schools would be good for an individual with a 3.14 overall and a 3.45 in my major (3.6 for the past two years). My GRE scores are 154-V 154-Q and 5.0-W. I have 3 professors who are very willing to write recommendations including the department chair. I'm involved in Sociology club and the department chair has said that once we get our chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta going I will be eligible for that. Anyone know of any good schools for this? So far I'm really fond of Indiana University- Purdue University- Indianapolis. Is that a good option with these stats or should I look at somewhere else/ do something different.

You should talk to your professors to find out what schools have programs that are good in the specialty you’re interested in.

I have and they referred me to a book. The problem with the book is that it did not include schools that had MA/PhD programs and it also had schools that didn’t have the actual program. They are currently looking for a new book to help the students but I had much rather not wait for them to get it since it may be a while since it is a small department.
