Masters of Financial Economics

I have been interested in pursuing a Phd in Economics for a long time, but I have also had a strong interest in working a financial job and attending an M.B.A program somewhere down the road. As I've become a bit older, I've decided that the full Economics Phd is not for me. I like the academic aspects of learning interesting modeling, but I don't have another 5 or 6 years for school, and I don't want to be a professor.

I've started to look into Masters of Finance and Masters of Financial Economics programs and was wondering if anyone had some experience with any of these programs. I'm basically looking for a degree where I can submerse myself into an academic lifestyle, but come out with a more professional degree. Can someone give me a bit of a personal rundown on these programs?

If you want a masters in economics I suggest you apply to NYU.

They prepare you for the job market instead of some academia profession.

Well, that is more why I was looking at either a Masters of Finance or a Masters in Finance Econ. I don’t think I want something like an MA in Economics seeing as it serves primarily as a stepping stone to a PhD. That is why I was trying to find information on some of the MA fin.econ.

If anyone has any comments, I’d be interested in hearing about this as well.
