Hello,

With the common app, would I be able to change my essay a little bit to fit each particular school? Is it true that each school looks for a different kind of essay? I mean, I know the essay has to be personal. But don't some schools look for 'artistic' writers and others for 'technical' writers? So what about Columbia

Thanks!

after Oct. 19 you will be able to tailor your common app on a school by school basis, but most people do not do that and schools do not expect it. the common app has a versions feature that will go live on 10/19. colleges expect that your essay will show them how you write, who you are, how you think, etc. they want you to show your interest or aptitude for their particular school in the supplement.

Oh alright thanks. So generally, there is no major reason to tweek it per college…
But, I’ll still have the opportunity to tweek my essay per each college on the common app, if I wanted to?
