Match or reach?

K, I really really want to go to Johns Hopkins to study BME. After having applied, do you guys think that getting into JHU [not BME in particular, could be ChemBE as well] is likely? Should I think of it as a match or reach?

well here r the stats:
SAT: 2150 [720 Reading, 750 Math, 680 Writing]
IB: Predicted 38
Rank: N/A
SAT IIs: 760 Math2, 780 Biology M, 800 Chemistry
APs: N/A
Currently taking: IB HL Chem, Bio and Math. IB SL English, Chinese [I'm Indian tho] and Economics
Activities and stuff: Lots of time spent in service with an autistic school, also a lot of time with the Missionaries of Charity. Leadership is not a problem, I've been House captain and Student Council Rep. Play Basketball. Doing Model United Nations for ages. Quite a bit of various other debating as well.
Recs: 1 from bio teacher, she has a PhD. all boxes ticked as Very Good [well above average] and top 10%.
1 from Chemistry teacher, really glowing ref, all top 10% and up.
1 from counselor
essay:
My essay is about the experiences in the autistic school, how I learnt the meaning of Hope. Got loads of people to read it and they've said it's good.

What do you guys reckon my chances are? Match or reach? Right now I'm thinking reach...

near match; bme reach

^A very logical assessment. For a less competitive major, you'd be fine; for BME, possible. Great SAT 2's, by the way.

Just a question, but on what do people base their chancing opinions? What is your criteria and is it mostly test scores you're going on? Are there differentials on BME vs other majors published somewhere?

GPA? or is that wat the IB prediction is?

You have strong credentials but it is impossible to predict odds of admission at Hopkins or any other highly selective school because there is way too much data missing--such as the quality of the applicant pool you are competing against, how many other applicants present a similar profile (i.e., how well have you differentiated yourself from similar applicants), what an admissions officer will think of your essay (which can be quite different from friends and family), etc. That said, it would appear that you will gain admission to a good school somewhere.

Haha I sure hope I get into at least one good school :S

and yah the IB predicted score is what we have instead of a GPA.
