Match or safety...

I am a going to be a senior at a pretty good school in New Jersey (so I'm OOS for Michigan State)

I got a SAT score of 1970 (700 math; 630 reading; 640 writing - 10 essay)

My GPA is 3.63 (3.8-3.9 weighted)

I have 130+ hours of volunteer work teaching handicap kids how to play sports (leader of 10 sessions)
Chess club (3 years - VP)
Rotary Club (3 years - 30 hours of volunteer work relating to the club)
I will get elected pres. next year.
Tech. Club (3 years)
CPR licensed (3 years)
Soccer (13 years)
Freshman Soccer
Soccer Ref. - paid (3 Years)
Work in school library sorting through books and organizing (3 years)
100+ volunteering at local animal shelter
Wrote letters to children in other countries to give moral support
Model UN (2 years)
Teen Group (2 years)

Major: Political Science

I will chance back.

I’d say match (high safety). You aren’t guaranteed in, but most kids with your profile will get in no problem. Don’t worry too much, but definitely have a legit safety (and I don’t need chancing, I’m already at MSU! lol)

I would say match. Primarily because I wonder if they’ll cut back a bit on admissions next year due to this ridiculously large incoming freshmen class.

As fa-la said, have a safety :).

I my confused because I found these stats off of college board

Middle 50%

Critical Reading: 450 - 610
Math: 530 - 670
Writing: 460 - 600

According to college board in am over the 75 score percentile

Collegeboard numbers are old (and, quite frankly, odd). And we’ve found that they tend to focus way more on GPA than on scores. So while your scores are in the top 25%, your GPA is not. Therefore, match not safety.

From msu site:

High school GPA: 3.4-3.8/4.0

ACT composite score: 23-27

SAT Math & Critical Reading score: 1030-1250
