If you know about these majors, Vote which one has the most interesting careers, and which one is most needed right now. I'm trying to decide between Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace.

I would appreciate it if you would say what you think about any of these majors if you know things about them. I know I can just research these on the internet, but I wanted to see if there was anybody working to get/withthe majors or careers on here, and I wanted opinions of which ones are most needed in society right now.

I have about equal interest in all of the subjects. It's just the applications in society....I'm interested in what your opinions are. I think the reason I'm interested in them that connects them all is that they all can be applied to things like....robotics, machinery, making things work better, figuring out how to accomplish certain tasks by modifying them, basically engineering problems and solution invention etc. For Aerospace, I am interested in reaching out beyond out planet. For mechanical and materials I like the things decribed above.

From what you described it sounds like mechanical engineering fits you best. Mechanical engineers are always in demand and you should always be able to find a job as one. For aerospace I'll warn you that to be worth anything you'll have to get a masters. This is because a good aerospace engineer needs to be well versed in fluids, mechanics and other subsets of skills. Materials is the least designed focused and there's more emphasis on research and development of new materials. These are the same new materials a mechanical engineer would then take to design something new. If you do choose the aerospace route I'd recommend getting your B.S. or B.Eng in Mechanical engineering and then concentrating in aerospace stuff. This way when you graduate you'll have the most versatility on what to do next.

aerospace is kinda a limited field...I would advise u go get BS in mechanical and then get masters in aerospace if you are really interested in that kinda stuff...good luck

I don't really have any idea about materials engineering....it seems like a new field...

i'm applying for a trasnfer to USC because thay have an astronautical engineering program

aerospace engineering is going to explode within the next 10 years, and i know other poeple who believe this too.
i know this because public space travel is going to be available soon (see: spaceship one)

i'd say aerospace, just keep in mind it is probably the most difficult major to choose.
