Hello everyone,

I'm an incoming freshman majoring in human bio and doing premed. I got a 5 on my AP Calc BC test last year, which exempts me from math 10 a/b or math 20 a/b. I know that I am only required to do the math 10 series but I was wondering if math 20 would really be more impressive or helpful in med school applications, and math 20 a lot harder than math 10?

Also, I heard that some med schools don't accept ap credit, so would I have to take two other math classes even though I will have completed a whole math series?

Thank you for your help :)

math 20 isn’t inherently more impressive since many schools only have a single calculus series for everyone. it’s more important to do well in the classes you choose than to get Bs and Cs in “harder” classes.

that said, i didn’t think the 20 series was particularly challenging, but it was the only thing i ever knew. some of my 10 series suitemates were even tutoring 20 series kids.

if you got a 5 on calc bc, you should be fine for the 20 series. the 20 series isn’t hard at all. 10 series is a joke.

if you ever happen to change majors in the future, the 20 series is better than the 10 series.
