Hi, I’m an upcoming freshman at UCSD and I’m currently a human bio major. I am interested in med school, but I’m not 100% sure yet. I got a 5 on my Calc AB test so I’m exempted from either Math 10 A or Math 20 A. I was leaning towards math 20 at first because it would be easier just in case I want to switch majors in the future, but I was wondering if it would just be better to take math 10 and get a better grade. Could I get some insight on this? Thank you.
If you hate math or really struggle in math and you are sure that you won’t want to switch to a major that requires MATH 20, then take MATH 10.
If you are good at math or you are willing to work at it and think there is potential that you might want to switch to a major that requires MATH 20, then I would say take MATH 20 to be safe.
I was a biochem/bio major and took the 20 series because I wasn’t sure if I would want to switch majors later. I ended up never switching, but I didn’t find the MATH 20 series to be that hard.
Okay, I think I’ll take math 20, just for future flexibility if I do want to switch majors. Thanks for answering all of my questions
