Hey

I'm planning on taking the placement exams this fall for math 104 and math 114.
To pass the exams, what is the percentage you need to reach. I have taken a few of the old finals and have been scoring about an 80%.

thanks

^80% on old finals would get you As in both of the classes normally. I think it should be good enough, but really email someone in the math department to be 100% sure (www.math.upenn.edu). Even if you do not believe that your placement test shows your true ability, you can always just sign up for 240. You get retroactive credit if you get a C or higher for 104 and 114, and if you bomb your first midterm you can drop into 114 no harm no foul.

Anyone else know the percentage needed to pass these exams. I emailed the math department, but they were not much of a help.

If you just want to take Math 104, and not place out of anything, do you still have to take the placement exam?

if you're going straight to 104, no testing necessary
