So I'm a senior in high school and I'm directly admitted into the business school, and according to the degree requirements, all I need to take is 112 or 124. NOT both. Just one.

Anyway, I'm in AP Calculus AB and having a really tough time this year. If I pass the AP test with a 2, I'm placed into 124 if I redeem my AP credit. If I don't pass, I.. guess I take 112? Or if I choose not to redeem my credit?

Can somebody enlighten me on the differences of these classes? Should I try to take one instead of the other?

MATH 112 is math-made-as-easy-as-possible for business students and MATH 124 is the the first quarter in the intro calc series required for any engineering/science majors. As far as I know MATH 112 is basically high school level math and MATH 124 can be challenging depending on who your teacher is. I would say if you don’t pass the AP test take MATH 112 just so you don’t tank your GPA, but keep in mind that as a business major, math skills are highly desired (since most business majors don’t go past calculus) and it may be in your best interest to take as much math as you can. It’s up to you.
