Math 16B, 17B, 21B?

ok, i received my Ap scores today, i got a 4 on the Calc BC test and i checked the AP credit equivalent page. I now have the option of taking either 16B, 17B, or 21B

16B- short calculus
17b-calculus for biosci
21b- calculus discussion

i was wondering which math class should i take in the fall, and which teacher/instructor should i select.

p.s collegeboard didn’t sent my AP scores to Davis even though i requested it by writing Davis on the answer sheet…

nvm, i think i should be taking math 21b since i am continuing with more "rigorous math" after 21C

The 21 series is usually for engineers.

yeah, after i came up with the same conclusion after i looked at the catalog

i would recommend starting on 21A if you want to do 21, the 21 series is no joke.

If you've taken Calculus before, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the 21 series. It's rigorous, but not so hard that you'll be devoting all your time and effort to it (I took 21A and 21B alongside CS classes). 21 is intended for Math/Engineering majors.

22AB and 108 are the ones you wanna watch out for...

How bad is 21B? I'm starting to freak out.

dmission did you decide to skip 21A? At the engineering orientation they pretty much told EVERYONE regardless of what score they got on the AP test for BC to start over. I didn't meet anyone who decided to start in 21B. My son is starting over despite getting a 5 on the AP test.

Which dorm are you in?

ohhh really? it's that rigorous???? cause i just started with Math 21B.

Yeah, I started with 21B, too.

Is it like, 21a=derivatives, 21b=integrals? How tough is it?

Jacker2011 -- who's your teacher for it?

some chinese guy Xin Hua...or something

after i looked at the syllabus for 21B and 21C, it reminds of of calc BC....i mean Integration for 21B and Series/Vector for 21c??

i am a freshmen
and i signed up for 22A since i satisfy the prerequisites
am i going to die from the overload? haha

thats my teacher too :P

and yeah I think that's right, I'm pretty sure 21B = integrals

deepster: it depends what other classes you're taking.

if you did well in BC, 21b shouldn't be a problem.

well, i guess a review for integration is not that bad...even though it's the same thing taught over again from AB and BC

integrals are funner (hah) than derivatives anyway :P

it's not fun, when you learn the disk/washer method and apply integration to work(physics) problems....for the 3rd time.

well yeah, I was joking
disk/washer method can be tricky. work integration isn't too bad, especially if you just have to set up the integral

i hate math... and yet my major requirements include a lot of math classes...

...go figure.
