according to ratemyprof, they're both bad. yikes. im taking 16A now so i would really want to take 16 b in the spring. and im not good at math too.

so HARRINGTON::
-unorganized, messy handwriting
-but may be a straight forward prof.
-bad too.

SCANLON::
-females like him because he has a british accent and he's cute. [im a female too lol but if he's a bad prof i dont care about his looks]
-but he does his entire lectures by powerpoint. this is math! hello!?!
-overall bad prof.

I was in your shoes last spring with a choice between Harrington and Scanlon and read the same comments on ratemyprofessors.

First off, Scanlon's British accent was nowhere to be heard. It might have worn off or maybe it was just a passing phase he grew out of.

His powerpoint lectures complicated the contents of the textbook. But he would take some chalk to the board and work out examples. He would claim that he was only testing for the main concepts then puts problems on the exams that required lots and lots of simplification before you got to actually apply such concepts and any careless errors in between would be costly.

So yeah, unless you're naturally good at math/have taken AP Calc BC, go with Harrington instead.

harrington is not the best 16b prof because he gets off on theoretical tangents and proofs, but the class was pretty easy. his tests were very straightfoward, easily something you can ace if you study.

and he looks like santa clause ie he seems pretty nice.

I’m wondering the same thing. My GSI (Alex) emailed us over a week ago telling us he had posted our grades and they’d be up on bear facts soon. WHAT HAPPENED?!??!

my gsi yuhao huang had emailed us too on sunday may 17: " We’ve finished grading yesterday and I’ve input scores of my sections. Please do NOT send e-mail to ask before Wednesday."

i cant stand the suspense lol. i really want to know!
