I got the following message regarding the math class that i should take :

Your major requires the Math 20 sequence.

You have an AP Calc AB score of 3. You may enroll in Math 20A for 2 units.

Initially, Math 20A will be listed as 4.0 units on WebReg and on your transcript. Upon completion, the units will be changed to 2 units.

Does this mean i HAVE to take math 20A? I passed the ap exam, i thought that a three would let you skip to math 20B?

Also, is it worth it to take 20A if i can only get 2 units from taking it??

thanks for the advice

based off of this - Mathematics Score of 3 on AB exam = exempts Math. 10A - i’m pretty sure you have to start with 20a.

also from here - for 20b you need to have earned a 4 or 5 on the ap calc ab test.

but don’t worry about losing those 2 units. a ton of freshmen take an easy load their first quarter, those 2 units won’t really make a difference in the long run.

thanks eltagra

but doesn’t this mean it would have been better not to pass the AP Calculus AB test, because it would mean that I would get the complete 4 units for completing the class?

I wouldnt worry about it too much. It actually benefits you since you wont really have to worry about the units max limit for graduation. If you are concerned with the number of units that quarter, just take a few 1-unit freshmen seminars to cover it
