just a quick question, the math 20A textbook listed on the ucsd website is 2 Calculus Early Transcendentals (text+questionnaire), 9781429212359, is that any different from calculus early transcendentals without the '2' in the beginning. would just purchasing a copy off amazon with the same title be fine?

In my own hunt for cheap textbooks, I found that Amazon sells the same text but with no questionaire…

Can someone with experience in the math20 series tell if we really need the questionnaire or not?

similar question but for Math20B, I guess

So the same book is for Math 20A and 20B?
I need 2 Calculus Early Transcendentals for Math 20B.
Something is wrong.

Nope, it looks like we’re supposed to use the same book… at least this way saves us money…

The 2* means the number of items sold to you from the bookstore… it’s the questionnaire thingy that I would like to know more about…

I have the same question for Math 20C also. I couldn’t find the book with the 2 in the front anywhere!

I repeat the 2* means the number of items sold to you from the bookstore… it’s because of the questionnaire thingy that comes with the book when you buy it from the bookstore.

Yeah there’s like five items listed but only the 2* item is required. I am just puzzled as to which one to buy…

is 9781429212359 the ISBN# cause i can’t find a match for it

I tried the ISBN methods but it seems like the ISBN’s are specific for UCSD bookstore’s bundles… as I couldn’t find any results with the provided ISBN’s via google… aside from sometimes UCSD’s own site result…

Yeah I’m guessing the bundles are only available in UCSD’s bookstore and nowhere else.

i called the bookstore. You can get either one. the one with the 2 on front is the hardcover.

I called the math department, and they said we can get either book. In fact, we don’t even need the questionnaire, so getting one from Amazon should be fine.

Oh cool, thanks for clearing things up!

oh that helps a lot! why would they put both books up then? ughh it makes it so much more confusing. but thankss!

so i show that both *2 Calculus Early Transcendentals and *3 Calculus Early Transcendentals are required texts for MATH 20B. however it is my understanding that only 1 of these is truly required and it is up to the student to determine which one to get. is that correct?

I emailed the Math Department. They sent me this link for book questions:
