Math 20C?

I'm a revelle freshman (class of 2016) who got a 3 on AP Calc BC. I Honestly felt like I could have gotten a much better score because I was doing the IB program at the same time and I had to take an IB HL exam on the same day. Furthermore, I have more experience in mathematics (research paper, college graduate level courses, etc.) but my knowledge of diff. eq was weak which is why I got a 3. Could I talk to the instructor of 20C and still take it?

bump
anyone, please?

What are they recommending you to take? To be honest, most freshmen that started in Math20C in the fall usually ended with B’s because they weren’t used to the gears of college quite yet.

You could explain your situation (contact the professor, not the counselor) but I suspect they will try to dissuade you from taking 20C because they’re wary of your self-assessment, being that you’re not even in college yet. Unless you’ve taken an actual math course at a college of a similar rigor to that of UCSD, I don’t know that you can really say whether or not you’re prepared for college-level math. If your test scores don’t reflect that you’re prepared for it (and they consider “prepared” to be a 4 or 5) then I doubt they’ll let you in.

How did you do on your IB though? You could try to convince them to let you into 20C by proving that while you botched the AP exam, you demonstrated your readiness on the IB. That’s the best advice I can offer you. Otherwise I doubt they’ll make exceptions for a score of 3. Just my opinion; feel free to try anyway. Doesn’t hurt.
