Math 31A

I have a couple of questions here.

a) The highest level of math I've taken during high school was precalc, and I've learned a very limited amount of information on calculus in my IB math course. Would it be safe for me to jump into 31A already?

b) If I enroll tonight, this means I SHOULD start attending tomorrow correct?

c) Will the TA's know by the time I attend the discussion section (on thursday or friday) that I have been properly enrolled?

d) For those of you who have started 31A already... How far will I be behind?

a) I don't see why it would be unsafe. 31A is introductory calculus... just the relatively simple limits, derivatives, etc.

b) Yup.

c) Don't know. But just let your TA know and check up on it.

d) I'm not taking it, but it can't be much. It's only one lecture.

Did you take the math placement exam? If you were placed into 31A, you'll be fine. If you didn't place into it, then you shouldn't be able to enroll into the class - meaning you'll have to take Math 1.

Umm I passed out of something. I'm not sure if it was 3A or 31A.

if you passed out of one, you passed out of the other also.

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT COOOOOL 8)

So since I am about to swap 31A for my history class, should I tell my history prof/TA tomorrow that I have dropped the class? Or is it safe to just to leave things be.

wait. maybe i'm not getting something, but didn't you say you passed out of 31A already?

Oh, I meant that I passed out of Math 1 but I don't know if I'm eligible for 3A or 31A

So you meant to say Math 1 right? ...and just answer this question. Did you take the math placement exam? If you did, what did you get placed in?

Yes, meant to include the Math 1 part. Yes I took the exam. I got 40 something on the exam.

ok awesome. now i got it.

yes you are eligible to enroll in either 3A or 31A.

thanks a BUNCH! :D

you didn't miss much.. we just had a syllabus handed out, some contact sheet handed out, and he talked a little about Limits on Fri.

who do you have sbelse?
