I took the AB Calculus AP test at the end of my junior year after taking AP Calculus. This year as a senior I took stats which was a waste of time and I managed to forget most of what I learned the previous year. I'm not going to take the math placement test when I go to orientation, but I'm wondering whether or not I should take 31A or skip it and just start with 31B, or maybe even start with Calculus. Thanks.

what did you score on the ap test? if you got a 5, you must start in 31B/3B. if you got a 4, you can choose A or B. 3 or lower is 31A/3A.

Oh my bad, I got a 5 on the AB test. So I have no choice but to take 31B? I really don’t remember calculus well at all.

u can always sit in a class and take notes.

actually wait i dont know. it might depend on major. whats your major?

At Orientation they said 5 –> 31B, 4 or less –> Placement test

OK, well my major is biz-econ. Obviously I can sit in a class and take notes but if I don’t know the fundamentals of anything then I’m screwed.

do we need to take the math placement exam for majors like political science, psychology, or history?

Not if you don’t plan on taking math classes
