Can anyone that has taken either over the summer give me some information. For example I heard that each lecture is taught by a gsi, is this truth?

Is it easier or harder in general? And is it one that is more advisable over the summer (i.e. less material to cram)?

Is it doable to take chem 1A and one of these maths over the summer?

Took both over summer last year. Both taught by GSIs. 1 hour of discussion + 1 hour of lecture for both classes everyday. However, it’s really just 2 hours of lecture since we never really have discussion. I don’t recommend taking both, but with chem1a, it might be different. I also can’t say whether it’s easier or harder compared to a normal semester, but it definitely was “interesting”, to say the least.

Thanks for the reply. Why don’t you recommend taking both in your specific case (I still haven’t discarded this option actually), did you perform poorly, feel you didn’t learn the material well or just way too much workload? How often were hws, quizzes and midterms done for each?

You can quickly lose interest in the subject if you do 4 hours of math lecture everyday. I set it up poorly so that it was from 8am-12 everyday. I still did well in my classes, but it wasn’t as fun as I had previously anticipated.
