Math: 600 to a 700?

If you order the Testmasters solutions book (available from amazon.com), it shows you how to work through each of the problems from the College Board's Blue Book.

did you order it? if so, how long did it take for you to receive it?

amazon always gets me stuff in like 3 days (most times its free shipping too)

DO they not sell it in REGULAR stores? I'm not allowed to shop online.

It just came in the mail today. I ordered it about a week ago. It was actually shipped by their vendor -- Testmasters. I don't think it's sold in a bookstore. Other than on amazon.com, it might also be on the testmasters website.

Let us know how it is...

You know, bursnskaer -- since you're in TX you might be able to buy a copy directly from Testmasters at one of their offices. They're located throughout Texas for prep courses. www.testmasters.com

I'll report back after my S has had time to look through it.

course... but the kaplan book helped me a lot as well

i raised from 700 in practice to 800 just by practicing careful reading with 2 practice tests. THe key to math is careful reading and extreme focus to what hte question is really asking. For example, if i ask: If THere are 10 red marbles in the hat, and 5 green marbles, what is the probability that tthe marble picked will not be red.

Sometimes, people may misread it and not notice the NOT and answer incorrectly. So just be on the lookout.

I always review the questions I got wrong, and that encourages me, but aren't there almost infinite variations? Is it likely that you'll get a question with the same exact concept? That always puts me down :(

trust me ..math=practice..and its the easiest section on the SAT

o and u can post whatever questions u like alot of people here will respond (me being one of them)

which is the best math workbook to go from a low 700 to an 800

Have you heard of SATMATHVIDEOS ON YOU TUBE? WATCH THEM

Doing the actual problems + asking for help on these forums > watching videos that are violating copyright laws.

Seriously, grab the damn blue book and do every problem. I don't care if you do them timed or not, just do them.

Yea math is really easy to raise, don't be worry. My first SAT practice test I took I barely got a 500. Now with lots of practice, I'm scoring in the high 600s and low 700s (The practice tests i'm taking are a little harder than the real SAT, at least what my teacher says. So I should score at least a 700 no problem) Also This is a HUMONGOUS problem for me, Read the QUESTION thorougly many times!!. Sometimes I read it once and miss out a couple words, which the scores can differ from an 800 to an 700. On a bad day, I miss read like 4~5 questions... on a good day I don't miss read any. difference is almost 100 points. So don't be careless like me.
SAT questions are not difficult, Many are really easy, but ETS just tricks you, that makes it hard. If any one question takes you more than 2 minutes to do, there must an easier way.

The most difficult section to improve is critical reading. I started around like a 400 somthing and now i'm almost 600( for a while too..) That is strictly based on your reading skills, very hard to improve on.

Writing section is fairly easy, In the beginning I started out getting 400s with the essay... Now I'm scoring in the high 600s. Grammar is learning about the basic concepts. Once you get the concepts your on your way to the 700s.

Practice!! Find many different practice book test so you can be familiar with many different type of problems.

lol i agree with 88888888. Almost all my mistakes are concentration errors: not reading the question thoroughly or just making a stupid mistake. Very rarely is it that I miss the concept. The math is just too easy on this test. T.T
