hey everyone!
It seems as though ivys really like mathletes and the science crowd.
What about those who are interested in English and History (ahem me ahem)? Are their chances smaller than those of the math and science crowds?

"Math/science are not favored. 800 math scores are a dime a dozen, 800CR much more rare. "

Thats not totally true. On average maybe around 60 students per state get an 800 on math. But I do agree getting an 800 on cr is a little more challenging.

Anyway to answer your question it really depends which Ivy league your talking about. Columbia has a TOP KNOTCH engineering college which nearly matches MIT. I would have to say Cornell is on the same level. Im not too familiar with the other Ivys but I would think Princeton is great for math and science majors.

hmm I’m thinking more around Brown, Cornell, and dreaming about Yale. However, there are also liberal arts schools such as Amherst and Williams. Maybe those would be a better fit.

Brown rocks, and I would be happy t see you on the campus in a few years (assuming that we both get in-like that will EVER happen ). We all know how great Yale is, but Amherst and Williams are awesome choices as well. I’ve heard great things about Cornell engineering, if you’re into that (maybe Hotel because you said that you more of a “speaker/writer”).

top notch schools dont favour science/math students. it’s just that they have more avenues to demonstrate their passion and aptitude through all those competitions. my high school sends droves of humanities students to oxbridge and the ivies annually!
