Math Class Advice?

Hi.

I already registered for classes at my local state uni. I was automatically put into Pre-Calc Mathematics because that's the class most folks in the bio major take to fulfill their mathematics requirement.

However, I tested into the higher-level Trigonometry class (which I didn't know when I was registering). I've taken Trigonometry, Algebra 3 (which is kind of like a pre-calc class), and normal Calculus in High School. I understand both Trigonometry and Calculus (I didn't test well b/c I didn't remember the rules, but I did do alright in the class).

I am considering switching to Trig, but am wondering if it is worth it. Currently, Pre-Calc is M-F, for about 50 minutes each day. It is worth 5 credits. Which puts my entire schedule at 17 credits.

But the Trig class is only 2 days at 1hr 15 minutes a class and is worth 3 credits. If I switch into Trig, I would consider taking a 2 credit class, which would still put me at 17 credits for the semester.

Would it be a good idea to switch? I am good at Math (if I actually study it), and it seems like Pre-Calc is just too below my level and I would get frustrated. Opinions anyone?

If you’re past pre-calc and know it well enough to move into a different class, then I don’t see any issue with it. Besides, you get to finish another class requirement with those extra two credits.

Don’t take a class below your level. It will bore you to sleep. If you have already taken some calculus in high school, you might even consider taking a calculus class in college. (Calc is much more useful than trig anyway!)
