Math class sequence

OK- signing up for junior year classes tomorrow. For reasons beyond my control I am 'at grade level' for math (geometry this year)...and I don't know what math classes I should do next year. I am for sure doing two in 1 year (HS is block scheduled so you can take one the first semester and the next in the following semester)...here are my options:

Algebra 2 (no honors) and Honors PreCalc- if I did this one I would be able to AP Calc senior year (AP Calc is a year long so you cannot take precalc and AB in the same year), but everyone I know says PreCalc is ridiculously difficult (at least at our school) and a good way to make your GPA go down.

Algebra 2 and AP Stats- If I did this, I would NOT be able to take AP Calc senior year, and would take precalc senior year

Thoughts?

“but everyone I know says PreCalc is ridiculously difficult”

Doesn’t mean it’s true. The average person isn’t on CC worrying about their schedule. You’ll probably be okay. I’d recommend the first option.

But you’ll be taking Pre-Calc either way? Like Heather said, you can’t really go by other people’s opinions to decide whether a class is hard or not. I’m sure that, if you start taking the class and it turns out to be too hard for you, you can switch out (as long as you decide to do so early enough).

In that case, you might as well just go with the first option so you can take Calc your senior year.
