My school is all-IB and doesn't offer more standardized classes. They offer Integrated Math 2 and 3, Math Studies, Math SL, and Math HL. As a sophomore I took Integrated Math 3 and then SL as a junior. BUT, last summer after my sophomore year I took pre-calculus at a local University under Dual-Enroll. Is this even worth considering putting of an application during for colleges? I know a lot of kids are at multi-variable calculus by their senior year and I definitely will not be. Precalc isn't even considered an extremely rigorous class. This summer I will be taking Calculus.

It’s a great thing to mention that to get ahead, you took a class out of school. Also, in my school, Precalculus is seen as harder than even BC calculus. Why? I’m not sure. But I’m taking it next year as a sophomore and I’m scared =)

Alright thanks, I am much more of a science-y person

Science uses a lot of math principles… Except biology I guess. What type of sciences are you into?

Haha all kinds. I am interested in medicine but my favorite branch of science is chemistry. Physics and Biology are both close second though. I like it all. I am on a tract at my school where I will graduate with 9 full years of science courses (3 bio chem and physics).

Fresh: Honors Biology
Soph: Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics
Junior: IB Biology, IB Chemistry, IB Physics
Senior: IB Biology, IB Chemistry, IB Physics

Oh and I took Contemporary Psychology at a local University, and will be taking 200-level classes this summer.

Great, best of luck!

You could’ve self-studied the AP math classes by yourself or on Thinkwell. Try it out. I’m self-studying Chem (was thinking Bio but switched). It’s too bad you guys don’t have that great of math classes at your school. I mean my school is letting me take AP Calc AB as a Sophmore since I’m in honors precalc this year.

No haha our math classes are really good. My school is IB and we are situated next to a school that has AP and our classes are just a comprehensive and harder than theirs but it just isn’t recognized as much and it is DEFINITELY harder to take classes sooner than usual because they are already considered “rigorous”.

I will definitely think about self-studying for Ap’s though thanks for the advice!

You should put whatever you think is important.

If you are taking calculus in summer, then why would you not be in multivariable calculus by senior year?

Also, what kind of college offers pre-calculus? Isn’t that only a high school class?

@Bob: It is a four year University and has Pre-Calculus as an Intro Class during the summer semester. And yes I would be but the way my school is run (pretty foolishly I might add) you were placed in a certain math “track” when you are a freshman, after that you really can’t alter the progression of your classes. I was placed in the middle tier track (figuratively) and because of my sudden interest in Math I was driven to Dual-Enrolling at University instead of just advancing math classes in school. I really disapprove of how they work the math classes. I also made the mistake of taking Pre-Calc after sophomore year in the summer, it was essentially a review class and I should have taken calculus. At this point I am hoping to self-study and use what I learned in school this year to be placed into Multi-Variable this summer, but realistically I do not think that it will happen :/

I hope that explained it well.

Yeah, you should put it on there!
