Math clubs and competitions in high school?

My school has almost every e.c club that one can think of except for anything related to math ._. I am thinking about bringing Mu alpha theta to our school and was wondering if anyone can provide me with some information about what exactly one does in mu alpha theta. I checked one the website and it looks like contests and such but I want to do more than that ...like a math competition where we go against other schools for regionals, district, states then nationals and such. Can anyone think of a program that is like this which i can bring to my school? ;D

Like aca deca or science bowl except for math? Thanks!!!

Math contests are usually more of an individual thing. The only “team” ones I can think of are specific to my region.

Qualifying for your state’s ARML team might be similar to what you’re looking for.

Good luck on your search!

Late edit: I do wish there were something like Mathcounts for high school. Would be very exciting indeed. There’s not much that motivates better than wanting to do well for the team.

um. our mu alpha theta chapter does different tests both in school and out of school… some include:

mandelbrot
fall start up

like 4-5 more, but I can’t remember their names :</p>

we also go to competitions at Texas A&M(fall) and Rice University(spring).

We rarely have practice.

I’m on math team at my school. Most of the competitions we do are regional, so if you’re starting the club, you’ll probably have to do a bit of research. Perhaps talk to someone from a school with a math team about the contests they do. And see if local universities have annual competitions.
