Math Confusion

Ok, so given that it's pretty much time to start applying to colleges, I thought that I would ask an important question that I don't think I've found an answer to yet. I have taken tons of AP classes, have a 3.8 GPA, gotten a 1990 SAT score, and have some good EC's however I do have one big problem. I want to major in computer science (in fact I know a good amount of programming from self study) however on the Stony Brook website it says that students should take Calculus in their senior years in order to major in CS (I'm not really sure about this because some people have told me I don't have to). However due to some problems that came up in my eight grade year I was unable to get into the honors math curriculum and as a result, I am taking Pre-AP Calculus in my senior year (right now). However, I can assure you I am by no means bad at math. My question is, can I still major in computer science if I get accepted to Stony Brook even though I'm not taking AP Calculus AB or BC in my senior year? Any help is appreciated. :)

Really good question. YES, you can still get admitted if you don’t have Calc in high school. Particularly in your case, because you can’t. You need to get through pre-calc in order to get into calculus, so do well and knock pre-calc out of the park and worry about the Calc sequence when you get here.

Thanks Chris. :)
