<p>Thread title. I have already been accepted at both UNC and GaTech. On the plus side, UNC for me would be cheaper as it is an in-state public, but GaTech has a better overall CS program, and likely will have more "nerdy" clubs and activities. So I just want to ask, are math and programming clubs and competitions common at UNC?</p>
<p>There’s a CS club and it meets every few weeks. There are regular programming nights, etc., and 1-2 major programming competitions every year, but of course it doesn’t compare to GaTech’s CS environment.
I don’t know about Math clubs. I haven’t heard of any active ones.</p>
<p>EDIT: A quick note, UNC’s CS department is much smaller than GaTech’s which IMO is a good thing.</p>
