Is anyone familiar with the Comp Sci and Math departments at Case? Are the professors interesting / responsive? Are undergrads second-class citizens? Are the upper-level classes offered frequently enough? Are the classes mostly focused on theory or practice? Are there internship / research opportunities associated with the college or does one have to go outside for these opportunities?

My son has been admitted, and is most interested in (theoretical) CS but may major in math or double-major.

We will tour Case on Friday and have not yet picked a class to visit. Info Session and Tour will fill up morning and early afternoon, so we will likely aim for 2pm or later. If you see a math class that you especially wanted feedback on let us know… that might help us decide.

That list is for last semester. Unfortunatly, there are not that many classes friday afternoon. One that I can recommend, is EECS 309, Electromagnetic Fields I, tought by Professor Merat. It is held from 2-2:50 on Friday. While not a theoretical CS class, it is in the same department.'

Edit: You can do a search of all classes here:

Thanks xxpor. We realized at Case that the posted schedule is for Fall semester. The admissions folks kindly tracked down the Spring schedule. But still not much to pick from on Friday afternoon, our only available timeslot. Unfortunately the two classes my son visited were uninspiring, but myguess is that the students were probably just worn out at the end of the week.

Same question for the same reason. I would love to hear from people in the know, as no one in our family will be able to visit before having to decide where to enroll.
