Ok, I want to apply to an ivy league school and I want to take a math subject test. But, math is not my strongest. Not thaat I do bad in math, but it's the subject i have to put the most work into. so which should I take math I or Math II? What's the difference between the two? (I know that II is harder, but what makes it harder?) help?

Difficulty between the two will depend on what level of math you have completed. Math I tests basically through Algebra II and is pretty comparable to what you see on the regular SAT math section. Math II tests through Precalculus so you have to know a lot more math to do well on it.

If you have taken up to or beyond precalculus then Math II is probably better because not only does it look a bit better, the curve is much more generous - you can get several wrong and still have an 800, meanwhile on Math I you pretty much have to be perfect to get an 800.

Well next year, Junior year, I’ll be in Pre-calc. Should I go for Math II then?

Yes, as long as you are comfortable with the material and your Pre-Calc class covers what is necessary (it seems like on here everybody has a Pre-Calc class that covers the Math II material. Meanwhile at my school the Pre-Calc class is a joke and basically only covers Alg II stuff and trig). Preferrably buy the PR book and study/take practice tests or you could use sparknotes.

I do alumni interviewing for an Ivy. Every single kid I have interviewed over the last 5 years has done Math II. I think, for selective schools, you should do Math II.
