Math IIC on Dec 4th

I haven't done math in a while (don't have a math class this semester) and only fairly recently went through the first couple of practice tests on the Barron's IIC book. There's a bunch of stuff that I'm no longer familiar with, but I'm getting that fixed. If all else fails I will cancel and retake it in January...but one major concern is that I am horrendously out of time. Most recently I got to #40 at the hour mark; the first time I was at like #30.

This is insane. What can I do to fix it?

Oh, and I'm also getting a bunch of stuff wrong on many of the questions that are making me freak out and take too much time on, as well as getting stuff wrong because of stupid stuff like failing to switch to radian mode...I heard the Math IIC curve was nice; how do raw scores match up to the scaled scores?

in the PR IIC book i had a 42 raw was an 800 (lowest raw for an 800) meaning 44 right 6 wrong or 42 right and omitting 8 or any other combo.

take my advice: Don't use barrons

Kaplan/PR will prepare you plenty for the 2C and actually give you a realistic impression of the actual test

i thought barrons overpreped you, so wouldn't that be a good thing?

i am screwing up on barron's so badly, especially on practice test 4-9, i got like around 37-43 on the first 3 and then got murdered on the rest, now i don't believe in myself no more even though i got 800m SAT I :( 770 on PR but PR wasn't hard and too short of practice, only 2 tests!!!!

Just familiarize yourself with all the types of problems - even though you know, say, geometry, practice, practice, practice - until you feel that you can do any type of problem in your sleep.

This will help you cut so much time - you'll know all the formulas (you should know basic trig identities, for instance, among all the Volumes etc - it will save you time to know these off the top of your head) - and you can just plug in numbers.

If you find one problem that takes you too long, mark it, skip it, and go back later on.

But really - practice, practice, practice. I can't emphasize it enough.

I didn't use Barron's at all for the IIC. I finished the PR SAT II Math book, the PR Math Workout (amazingly easy but good for some early-morning quick practice), Kaplan (didn't like the setup, but for review, sure), and REA (didn't do the tests, just random practice problems when I had the time). Sure, I owned the Barron's and Peterson's and what not, but I wasn't impressed and I had plenty of practice otherwise.

Barrons overpreps you if you wanna spend that much time working on it. Some of the explanations are really hard to comprehend (at least to me). I did 1/2 of the Princeton Review book and got 790.
