I am looking for a college with a strong math program to which I could possibly transfer... I would appreciate peoples opinions about math programs at schools where they are or where they plan to transfer. I can look up the stats or colleges' websites for info about the math departments, but it is not the same as actually hearing what people think of the math programs. So please, any math majors that would like to comment upon this...

harvard has a famous pure math department . . .
you can look at a variety of indicators like putnam winners to see how good each school is (though the putnam may say more about the students than about the schools) . . .

but i do believe peer influence is very important
in nyu, only 8 ppl participated in putnam last year, you can see math majors here are not that enthusiastic

Stanford has a fantastic math program....
but i'm sure any ivy league you go to will...sooooo go to princeton :) lol sorry....this is my own bias...i love princeton

princeton might be accepting applicants for next (06-07) year transfer . . .
but I think harvard's more famous as a math department

you might want to ask this question in one of the ivy forums too, as there are people there armed with rankings for things like graduate programs (which may or may not tell you something about the undergraduate programs) as well as school-specific knowledge
