but couldnt find much besides the typical "strong, dedicated, outstanding"
i really want to hear inputs from wes students about it

<p>I'm a math major! woooo. I love the department immensely - and it's a pretty close-knit community. Great profs, great grad students, great students.</p>
<p>It's very strong for algebra and other pure math disciplines... a little weaker on the analysis and applied math end of things.</p>
<p>Take a class with Wai Kiu Chan or with David Pollack; you won't regret it. (Well, and also, as a freshman you should take Linear Algebra - not Vectors & Matrices - for sure to make sure you want to be a math major; it's a good introduction to what abstract math is like and if you'll like it.)</p>

also i would like to know about AP math scores
( i really dont want to sound like i am full of myself)
but i am about 95% confident that i can score 5's on my two math tests

<p>Well, that means you can place out of calculus and straight into Multivariable Calculus. Also, you can get up to two general credits toward graduation from courses taken before Wesleyan - that includes AP scores (some have requirements - i.e. to get an AP language credit, I think you need to take a more advanced language course, and then you get the two credits, for example).</p>
<p>Here are the math major requirements - notice that you can skip the year of differential and integral calculus if you've already taken it. And you might be able to place out of one of those other four electives with the Stats class if you want; you'd have to wait and talk to your major advisor to find out.</p>
