Math people help with a problem

Hey I haven't taken math in a while and can't remember what you do to 9 to get it from under the radical sign.. thanks to anyone who can help.

here is a link to the image

There’s a mental step between steps 2 and 3. So we can split the radical sign. Sqrt(92)=sqrt(9)sqrt(2). We know that sqrt(9)=3. So then 18*3sqrt(2)=54sqrt(2).

Or you can think about it this way. Sqrt(92)=sqrt(33*2). Since we have two 3’s, we can bring the 3 in front, out of the sqrt sign.

ahhhhh ok … thanks a lot!
