Math placement preparation

Math is my enemy. It has always been difficult for me. Luckily my university is giving me a second chance to retake the math placement test. I really want to do good. I don't want to be stuck taking 2 additional math classes before I reach the math class that fulfills my general ed math requirement. I have about 9 weeks until I take my math placement test. Does anyone know any good websites where I can take sample tests? I go to a small liberal arts university that doesn't really keep their website up to date. I've checked already to see if they had any sample tests posted but I found nothing! Any suggestions?

You mentioned that this is a retake - what material was on your first test? Do you remember the name of the program/server/sponsor that facilitated the exam? What level of math are you trying to get into?

I don’t think there’d be anything specific that you’d have to study - at least nothing tailored to a very specific set of problems or anything like that. I think you’d just have to familiarize yourself with general math topics from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calc. Perhaps look over the topics covered by the SAT II Math I&II exam and see if you’re comfortable with that - that would be a good place to start.

If you have always done poorly in math, you may well be better off starting in the remedial class in college and learning the concepts so that you can do well in the gen ed math requirement.

Why didn’t you take a math class during your freshman year?

@kkmama- I did take math my first year. But since I didn’t score high enough on the placement test I wasn’t able to fulfill my math requiremnt in time. The math department is just offering all students who haven’t fulfilled their requirement a second chance to take the placement test again.
