I have performed somewhat well on the SAT, but my math score is lacking. I have been going through the Blue Book, with the guidance of Khan Academy, and I love the way he approaches every problem; everything makes sense when he does the problems. I'm wondering if watching those Khan Academy videos could help me bring up my score. Has anyone ever used his videos for preparation? I really don't know what else I can do to improve.

I feel that math is one of those sections where it is really a matter of practice and exposure to the type of problems seen on the SAT. So really any prep book would work. However, I do recommend Dr. Chung’s and the Blue Book (use wisely!). If you are having trouble with more of the concepts, I recommend Grubers.

I used to score mid-600s when I first started prepping for the SATs and I saw that after reviewing the material/concepts on the test, I worked on finding the fastest way to solve problems and finding the most accurate way to do so. I must have done 20 practice tests focusing strictly on math till I scored my first 800, but I got the 700 rather quickly.

For the math section, once I got to the 700, I would say it was difficult for me to raise my score, because the questions were easy, but stupid mistakes like not reading the question thoroughly or something like that would trip me up and I would miss 1-3 questions which made raising my score difficult.

1 Solution: Practice. You can never go wrong with practicing SAT math questions, there is one right answer and it’s entirely quantitative.
