I am currently a freshman and have the same question. I am now doing Algebra 2 honors though since many advised not to skip in summer. I am doing well. I am now confused what to choose for Sophomore year since I have been self studying pre calc and feel that I can do it online over summer so in sophomore year I can do AP Calc AB, 11th - AP Calc BC and then 12th grade advanced math in community college. We need to do both AP Calc in that order in our school. Any thoughts if this will give me an edge especially since I want to go into CS or engineering and am good at math? Thanks
Same thing for me lol(though a year later). I am in Algebra Two currently and want to take pre calc over the summer to do AP Calc AB Junior year. I was wondering if that would give me an edge as well
It won’t give you an edge if online “learning” a critical pre-requisite leaves you unprepared for an AP Calculus class.
Once you’ve taken Calculus in HS, there’s not much of an “edge” to taking additional courses.
There are a grand total of zero US college that expect math beyond calc. There are no brownie points awarded for post-BC courses. But there are pitfalls if a 36 week course condensed to 6 leaves you less-than-prepared for the next level.
