I am currently taking pre algebra and want to take algebra 1 in the summer or either take algebra in 9th and take geometry in the summer. Also I am going to take cemestry. I NEED HELP
need help with what?
What grade are you in?
Are you working with your Guidance Counselor?
Which is better taking at summer
Algebra 1or geometry. I am 8 th grade
First question: why not just take both classes in high school normally? These are THE MOST IMPORTANT CLASSES for a good, strong math foundation. If you take these courses during the school year and understand them thoroughly, you will know all you need to know for the SAT math.
If not, then I say take algebra 1 over the summer. As i’m in geometry as a freshman right now, I’ve noticed lots of fellow students struggling with geometry because it was so unlike other math courses because it requires you to think deeper about mathematical concepts and apply them at a more rigorous level. Also algebra 1 in the summer will be smarter to do because it is really easy and easier to learn and understand than geometry. Also you will need a strong understanding of algebraic concepts that are and will be frequently applied in geometry (Example: when you get to circles, you will need to know the circle equation: (x-h)2 + (y-k)2 = r2 which is a big application of algebraic concepts. Also geometry includes angles written in algebraic numbers (for example-> two vertical angles on two triangles: one is 2x+3 the other is 5x+98)
*Hope this helps (haha) but yeah, you mentioned taking chemistry. That also sometimes uses algebra (stoichiometry) and i know at my school personally, you have to take algebra 1 → geometry → algebra 2 and you have to take chemistry concurrently with either alg2 or geometry.
