Math

I'm glad I don't go to a UC :) (I don't want to take more than Calc and Business Calc)

lol thx but its called hard work and i believe in it whole heartdly but thx for the caveat pony booyy :)

I agree it's all a/b hard work but you're going to really feel the pain if you take Linear Algebra....enjoy! :D

brand by what semster do u think i should finish calc III?

If you wanna do LinAlg before junior year, then you should try to have it done by this coming fall semester so you can do LinAlg in the spring.

If not, then I guess just do it by the end of your sophomore year. I think junior year is a little late, but I'm sure plenty of ppl do it then too.

The way I did it was spring calc 1, summer calc 2, fall calc 3, spring diff equ, and summer lin algebra. Lin alg isnt that bad in the summer. Just make sure you dont fall behind.

but i cant take calc II and Calc III together. or is there a way? because i was thinking of taking linalgebra in the summer of my sohpmore year. could i take calc III and linear algebra together? because i think after you take calc II you can choose right?

1st fall - Calc I
1st Spring - Calc II
1st Summer - Calc III
2nd Fall - Statistics (yeah gotta have for NYU or I wouldn't touch the stuff)
2nd Spring - Differential Equations
2nd summer (maybe) - Linear Algebra

I'll probably actually take a BREAK after the 2nd spring b/c I'll have my decisions from schools so it won't matter anyways.

Edit: abe...at my school you have to take Calc III after Calc II before you can go on to Diff Eq. And then you can take LinAlg.

calc III and linear algebra together

that's what i'm gonna do in fall

according to my trusty handbook from collegepark here are the prerquists:

After taking Math 140: Calc II you are allowed to take :
1. Math 241: Calc III
2. Math 240: introduction to linear algebra
3 and Math 246: differential equations (prereqs: only if i take Calc II and Math 240: linear algebra).

which linear algebra do i need? introduction to linear algebra or just linear algebra: which requires into to linear algebra?

eh?

i always thought calc III is the is the pre req for differential equation for every darn school including the UCs

edit: intro to linear algebra should be a lower division course

on the other hands, linear algebra should be an upper division course

according to my hand book to take differential equations and not differential equations for scientists and engineers you would have to take: Advanced Calc I and Linear algebra. and to take advanced Calc I you would need to take both Calc III and linear algebra. and no im going to college park.

hmm maybe it's just b/c you're at an actual university and we're at CCs.

But mine is the same as moonboy. Calc III -> Diff Eq -> Linear Algebra

But we don't have an "intro to linear algebra"

linear algebra = upper division course

intro/elementary linear algebra = lower division course

yea because at CC's into to linear algebra is just linear algebra. because in my book they linear algebra, and to get to it you would have to take intro to linear algebra or linear algebra for engineers: which requres calcII as a prereq.

hey guys whats a TA?

teaching assistant

how can you not know when you go to a 4 yr university yourself!!!

i know UCs are full of them since the class size is huge

well i dont just transfered to college park. so u guys are meaning to tell me each class has two teachers? one real prof and one ass.?
