Hi everyone!

I'm a potential exchange student at PSU next fall and just had a small question.

I couldnt find a proper PSU website telling me how many units i can take a quarter?

Is it 19?

Also if i do take 19 units, do you think that is a lot of work for one quarter?

Thanks guys

Can’t schedule more than 18, you have to sign up for more during the add period

Ok thanks!

But is 18 credits for example a loooot of work? Like people would struggle to at least pass all of them?

How many credits is considered normal per quarter?

Full time enrollment is a minimum of 12 credits. The usually credit load will vary by major, but I would expect most students to take at least 15. That allows them room to drop a class if need be and also get them pretty close to graduating in 4 years (with an extra class in several semesters).

For example, the engineering curriculums require about 134 credits, which averages out to 16.75 per semester.

You need 15-16 credits per semester to graduate in 4 years. If you take 15 you can still drop one and be considered full time, but then you have to “make it up”. You can take 18 credits depending on the class - remember that each class will require about 2 hours of homework per credit. You first semester, you can take 18 but be ready to drop one. This would still allow you to be “on time”. However, if your 18 credits are Engineering, Calculus, Physics with lab, a foreign language, English composition, and a reading-intensive class, you’ll be in trouble unless you already have a strong background in all these subjects, took Calc in HS and AP English Lang, etc.
