May 08 Biology E/M

Sorry I'm posting so many about that one question: can anyone recall the question? Was it something along the lines of "what must remain constant"...?

thanks

the curve for 750 depends each time, usually around 8 wrong.

It was, "What variable must remain constant to ensure that the experiment produced reliable results" or something

edit: actually it wasn't "what variable must remain constant", it was more a long the lines of "what conditions need to be induced"

thanks skatj

ive also been using the sparknotes message board for sat bio & those ppl are rude! & they dont seem to be getting anything

Sparknotes message boards confuse me, the format is strange. I really, really, hope I get 750+ on this, because I've made the decision to keep my scores. If I just get 750+ on chem as well in June then all I have to focus on is the SAT I, and perhaps one more subject test for Junior year (currently in 10th). And of course the AP tests.

Sigh.. I still can't get over that insect/tree question.. Like three graphs would make perfect sense as an answer choice

^I'm disappointed about the chromosome malfunction one and the restriction enzyme one, as I knew the answers to both, but just messed it up somehow.

yea..that was a weird problem..

btw, do u guys know if bio -M has a more lenient curve or bio-E? or are the curves for both the same?

also, do you guys remember what you put down for that eye diagram answer??

i remember i put down retina for the phtoreceptor one. what were the other two questions/answers?

do you guys remember what you put for the tundra question?
i dont remember the exact question but it was asking about why trees dont grow there or something

which part focuses the light-->lens

which muscle controls the amount of light entering the eye-->iris

What was the thyroid question? What would someone have if there was too much thyroid or something ... the options were Ostreoporosis, Endomecrine something, and something else that was easily eliminate-able. I put the Endo thing because thyroid has to do with the endocrine system?

BAH the questions were so subjective/weirdly worded.

The heart diagram: With thick walls and many branches so blood can reach many organs - Did you get 8? The giant thing on the mid-top of the heart?

^ i thought that question was about cholesterol. o_o and the choices were like.. osteosclerosis? endometrium something? but the answer was atherosclerosis... if that was a choice. lol. maybe it was arteriosclerosis.

thick walls + many branches -> aorta. idk which number it was. i thought it was #1 though.

no trees in tundra b/c can't establish root system.. cuz the soil's like frozen.

atherosclerosis is correct.
the thick walls are aorta - which i believe number one.
the right ventricle pumps the blood to the lungs by the pulmonary arteries. it was the "compartment" on the bottom left hand side.

were these question from the E section..because I don't remember answering these.

also, for the amino acid question, was it 900?

yes, those were from ecology.

Yeah, it was 900

Was the atherosclerosis one ecology? I don't remember it

The biodiversity question, some people think it's Coral reef. Is that even a biome? Sounds like an ecosystem to me. I don't know, I put temperate deciduous forest.

it's coral reef. to quote campbell.. "this coral reef in fiji illustrates some of the immense variety of microorganisms, invertebrates, and fishes that live among the coral and algae, making coral reefs one of the most diverse and productive biomes on earth"

lol -_-

how about for the vine problem where you had to graph the normal and none-tree vine

did u guys choose the graph where the normal one was higher than the none-tree one and was really steep or the one that kind of leveled off in the end
