study wordsmart 1&2 if you have enough time look over barrens vocab
i didn’t go over barrens, but people said it could be really helpful
wordsmart 1&2 really helped me to raise my vocab section

Direct hits volumes 1&2 are also great

just curious
what do you guys think 4 wrong would receive?
5 wrong?

Just memorize vocab the way you memorize best. I memorized directhits 1&2 two days before the test and some other sources… Only one word on the test I didn’t know “bohemian”

Does anyone know the exact sentence where laconic is said to be the answer because I am pretty confident the answer is histrionic

I don’t remember the exact sentence, but it was something about astronauts being quite laconic when on the moon, or something like that. Histrionic means dramatic, so that wouldn’t fit, because the word has to be the opposite of talkative.

I was so happy when I saw the word laconic; I only know it from TV Tropes.

I was thinking histrionic was
Used as not just dramatic but lengthy when it described how much the scientists explained. The context described the scientists as doing the opposite of what was expected so how could it be laconic?

what was the one w/ educators and the new teaching method?

DeltronII: That was definitely boon/universal (based on what everyone said in this thread).

ok cool i got that as well

can anyone clarify exactly what the question was for “laconic” and maybe list some other answer choices besides "histrionic? also, was this question EXP or no? BC I’m trying to remember if I had it or not

@usn

the questions said that astronauts rarely were descriptive when detailing outer space, they were even ______

-Laconic
-extemporaneous
-histrionic

cohesive was also an answer

I had it between cohesive and laconic but chose cohesive

Obviously the astronaut one is laconic. Stop arguing about it.

Didn’t it say that they weren’t expansive when talking, not descriptive? They just didnt say much.

^ it said that their reports or something were hardly extensive: on the contrary their (Something) were quite _______.

thats why i thought it would have to be a synonym for extensive

Yes. Guys on that note. The wording was precisely this:

The depictions/illustrations/images were RARELY EXPANSIVE; on the contrary the reports were always _________

Answer choices included : Histrionic, laconic, cohesive, some others.

Thus, it is asking for the OPPOSITE of RARELY EXPANSIVE. Which means, expansive. Why did so many put laconic? That doesn’t make any sense!! Because then you would be saying, “they were rarely ever large/comprehensive (which is basically saying, they were usually short/ not very comprehensive), BUT they were always short” WHAT???

@kayak48
That’s exactly the point I was trying to make

so what did you guys put? I put cohesive, but i feel like that was wrong. :(
