May 2012 Critical Reading Discussion

@solrak
That scientists who deny the importance of the solar system shouldn’t be listened to. I am certain about that one because I was looked for the exact words before I even read the choices.

i remember for space passage on trojan meteors an answer

-purpose is to explain more about something introduced in last paragraph

I also got solar system is not just about the astrophysical looks

@onlyshallow it’s because that was the most boring haha. i blanked out for a while

@solrak I think the quote was something like “the earth IS a (something), but it’s also where we live.” I said it was the choice with astrophysical

for the continuing the argument answer… i think i chose something saying how the questions showed that in the beginning it was saying something pertaining to people thinking bad things about it and then how dancing was actually beneficial
i definetely did not write that out correctly. does anyone know what question and answer im talking about

@michael

me 2.

I got the 'explain more about something introduced in last paragraph as well. In all honesty, this CR curve won’t be too lenient considering the passages were fair. The dancer one was annoying so was the vocab though =/.

@drac
i’m pretty sure it was that it isn’t just about astrophysical characteristics-- it said something to the effect of “his view of the solar system transcended the physical attributes”, and there was nothing that even implied what he thought about scientists who deny the importance of it

i think it was the first section. the 20 minute had 19 questions. then the first had 24, second 23, and third 25. Therefore, 23+25+19=67 questions total.

also, what about the narrative with a woman who was giving a speech at some kind of club?

@solark

thats what I got

Yea i put astrophysical characters. What are your answers looking like for the ‘zoo beast’ question? I know to do with ease was one of the options, cant’ remember all.

a wide variety of things to explore or exist

the key in that space passage was that shoemaker viewed it as a place of liveliness and constant activity

@everyone

Wasn’t the question you are talking about him saying the “this is the planet we live on.” in response to the other scientists?

@eagles94
Got that too. Astrophysical characters?? Which question is that for? I do not remember that at all.

@eagles

Likewise, the analogy made perfect sense. Most of the questions were straightforward, as oppose to the january one.

@solrak
yeah dude-- i meant to put @drac ahahha. we got the same answer

@drac

Yes, that’s the one.

@UDUBHUSKIES: do you remember what passages the first section had? b/c i had the similar format.

@zzzz

the question was when shoemaker got asked what he thought about the other scientists who thought the solar system was a bunch of dust swirling around and the earth was just a telescope to view it.

so shoemaker said it goes beyond that.

@eagles94
Ok I think I got that one.
