May 2013 US history (question pool)

I put Spanish American war as well, but I’m not sure it’s right.

What about the end of communism…? My class hasn’t even gotten that far and the fall of the Berlin Wall wasn’t one of the answers I don’t think

Dottay: do you mean end of cold war? I put the one about Gorbachev not using force

Gorbachev refusal to use military power to enforce communism in the east. That was the answer :)

What was the question about McKinley again? And what was the Sullivan quote? As far the the “After the colonization of Jamestown” I put that they slowly colonized parts of the East Coast, because “rapid colonization of the entire East Coast” implied Florida and I wasn’t sure if that was part of the answer.

What did you guys put for the eerie canal one?

I don’t particularly remember t the McKinley question, but I remember I put Spanish American war. The one after Jamestown was gradual, I’m pretty sure. Sullivan quote was some vague quote about how it is our right to take land, and it was referring to California. Eerie canal question was hard. I put that it didn’t increase transportation between east coast and new York, but I’m not sure that’s right.

Eek, I put it didn’t help settlers in the west.

redsnow, the eerie canal did in fact increase trade between new york and the east coast. that’s what my princeton review book says. i put that it didn’t cause price gaps or something like that. btw didn’t the end of the communist regime in poland signal the end of the cold war? i was looking for the berlin wall but that wasn’t there

and was the ‘gradual’ one choice B? ugh im afraid because i didnt read all the answer choices. im so stupid

Yeah I just looked it up. I didn’t know the geography of the area (I’m from California), ah well :). Poland was a part of it, but I’m pretty sure that was more of the start, the bigger signal came when people realized Gorbachev would not use military might, hence leading to the Berlin Wall breaking down. I think that’s correct. I’m pretty sure the colonization one was gradual, because after Jamestown we didn’t have many colonies spring up, but they came one by one over the century.

What did u guys say for the significant rebellion in the early colonies? I said bacon’s rebellion. Also before 1763 did regulation of trade by Britain have the most impact on the colonies?

Yes to Bacon’s Rebellion and trade restrictions (Navigation Acts). Question about area without many secondary schools and low literacy rate = 1880s West?

For the question about which president signified the end of the federalist party, wouldn’t it be Monroe, not Jefferson or Madison? because the federalists were still in the election of 1816 and Monroe was president during the one party system (era of good feelings).

No it was 1880s south, since in the wealth there was not really any income inequality and they said the rich ppl sent their kids to private skewl

Squikii no Jefferson was, remember the whole revolution of 1800 thing?

I thought the exact question was “Whose election marked the end of a decade of Federalist rule” or something very similar… so shouldn’t it be Jefferson? Election of 1800

That one’s definitely Jefferson. Does the curve for this test ever get to under 80 raw score being an 800?

Glorious revolution question? And the 1860 election?

Was the one for gradual colonization choice B?

Glorious Revolution meant the end of the Dominion of New England and in the 1860 election the Republicans only appeared on Northern ballots
