Wait so OrangeIguana the answer to the 1860 was it sent someone to the white house only the north supported right?

No 1860 was primarily concerned with the civil war

Oh yah, What was true about the election of 1860? I remember wanting to put debates over slavery were held between Douglas and Lincoln, but I put something else and I can’t remember what that was. Anyone remember ?

The Civil War started after the election

orangelguana is right about the election of 1860.

Oh yah, so was it debates over slavery were held between Douglas and Lincoln OR elected a President with only Northern support for the 1860 question. I put the latter because I don’t recall any Presidential debates between those two (I remember the ones they had when they were running for the Senate).

So was the answer someone won that only the north supported or the Stephan/Lincoln debates?

I’m positive the North answer is correct. For the Erie Canal question, does anyone remember if the answer choice said that it INCREASED commodity price differences between NYC and Buffalo, or DECREASED?

It said increased

Wait, for 1860, didn’t Lincoln win western states too? like Cali?

OrangeIguana, I believe it said increased

orangelguana, I think it was increased. And yeah election of 1860 was definitely north, the Stephen/Lincoln debates were for the senate election, not presidential. Also, like orangelguana said, the civil war did not start until after the election of 1860.

So what did everyone put for that canal question anyway?

Answer to the canal question (it was an ‘except’ question) is that it increased commodity price differences, because in reality it decreased them. I put Western expansion :/

I also put western expansion, and I guess that increased would have made sense but I don’t understand how it could possible help with western expansion…its in New York

Just for anyone’s reference, here are some that I wasn’t sure of and looked up the answers to…
Following 9/11, Bush sent troops to Afghanistan to find bin Laden/Taliban
Freedmen’s Bureau did NOT provide effective medical care/hospitals
Nat government’s main sources of revenue from 1789-1913 were tariffs and land sales

Oh I got the Freedman’s one wrong too :
I put encourage to go to the North

20Summer08, when Erie Canal was opened (1825), what we call the Midwest today was considered the West, so I guess it makes sense.

My amsco book says “the Erie Canal in New York State in 1825 was an event of major importance in linking the economies of western and eastern cities” and it also says it led to a canal building frenzy in other states that connected the east to the west, leading to settlement in the west.

Are you sure about the medical aid? It says “The Freedmen’s Bureau provided food, housing and medical aid, established schools and offered legal assistance.” on history.com
