So I took the jan and april sats and i thought my jan SAt math section was much easier than april's section. I actually went down like 60 pts in april's math and I had studied a lot! I'm thinking of taking a last and final attempt at the SAT in june but i was wondering if anyone took the april and may SAT and how they thought it compared.
Thanks

That's the thing with studying too much, for some strange reason, the more you study for the SAT the worse you do (assumption).

I scored a 2250 on my 3rd time taking the SAT's, but before that, the 1st and 2nd time I studied my butt off and only pulled off a 1918, the third one I just relaxed and had fun taking it.

I mean, I stress that everyone relax the day before taking the tests and don't stress so much.

WMF1125-how did you prep for the sat?..did you take any prep clases?

I took the KAPLAN SAT PREP-COURSE, but it was a horrible experience because there some elitist in the group, dumb idiots, acting like they were the instructors of the class.

Anyway, yeah, I took the KAPLAN SAT-PREP course and I studied a lot from the College Board Blue SAT Book, which helped me more than Kaplan...

anybody else take both?

I took the January one...I thought the May one was easier.

I took April and May and I think that May was slightly easier than April.

I thought the MAy was a whole lot easier than April

^^^^

Will this mean the curve for May would be worse than for April and hence harder to improve on your April score????

No, the curve in April was also pretty bad- like the lowest blue book ranges + 10 points, so like a 630-710 in critical reading was a 640 on the April SAT. I thought it was going to be a generous curve, but it really wasn't at all. Hopefully it will go up.

math- april's harder
cr- may's harder
w- april's harder by a teeeeeeeeny bit.

that's what i think. well then again i didnt get my scores yet.

I hope I did well, and all of you too.

that's not fair. I should have take the May one

yeah, i studied MY BUTT off for the april one. didn't even get near to what I wanted.
so for the june one, i'm just gona chill. study a minimal amount.

ive heard it looks bad if u take the SAT more than twice. is that true?
cuz i took the jan and april one, and im thinking of taking the one in october..

i didnt study much for either test and only improved 30 points, well actually i improved 60 points writing and math together, but my score went down in cr 30 points. i got a 1950 jan and a 1980 april. i want to atleast get 2050-2100, so im gonna practice a LOT over teh summer and memorize vocab cuz cr is my worst section.

compared to jan, april one was easier in math and writing. january's cr was easier.

didnt take the may one, cuz took the SAT IIs right after the AP so i would remember stuff :D

It Says That Don't Take More Than 3 Sat I's

Whoa WMF....how do you get a 1918....I thought they curve in units of 10.

lol 1920, guess i was typing in a hurry, i noticed it when I posted it but didn't want to change it

If you go to google and type in Princeton Review April 2006 SAT you will come to a thread on the first page that is an analysis of the April 2006 SAT as done by Princeton Review. You will see there were two forms of the test. If you scroll all the way down to the botton of that analysis where it discusses math you will see that students who got one particular form of the April SAT got a math section that was extremely difficult with even typically top scorers having difficulty getting above a 650. Had everyone who took the test that day received the same form of the test with the difficult math, the scale would have reflected the difficulty. Instead, collegeboard scaled both the two tests as one (they indicated to those who asked that the two tests they were sure had to be the same level of difficulty as they ascertain that in advance). Because the two tests given that day were scaled as one, this in my opinion helped those who took the other form of the test which had realtively reasonable math. Those who took the form of the test with the easier math found that with a few wrong they could still get a very high score. Those who got the more difficult math section who generally scored very high in math found that they scores may have gone down when they got their April results. The fact that the math was extremely difficult may have thrown off some usually high scorers in math so that their concetration was affected as they went from a difficult math section in one of the first sections onto critical reading and writing.
For those who encountered this on the April exam, write this off as an unfair testing experience and try taking the SAT again.
