Did anyone receive their scores yet?
Still waiting for mine. They usually come out at 5 AM EST.
Haven’t gotten mine yet either. I will wait another hour and log back in. I can’t sleep.
Out for me now!
got mine as well
Anybody get unexpectedly low essay scores? There’s no way mine should have been as low as they were.
There are out.
Haha I like how everyone was up
at like 1 waiting for the scores. (Although, guilty, I checked as soon as I got up .)
@urbanjn As far as I know, nobody has reported problems with SAT essay scoring. Did you analyze effectiveness of the writer’s choices? I personally received good scores on the essay, and they were about what I thought I’d get. Granted the scoring margin is 6 points, so… Of course if you doubt the accuracy you should get them to restore. They also have your essay online so take a look at it and really read it from a critical lens.
Don’t they provide feedback on the essay?
@PeregrineFlute I remember walking out of the test feeling very confident about the essay, considering I’d been working on rhetorical analysis all year in AP Lang. & Comp, and after looking at it again, I just have no idea how I could have gotten a 3 on analysis. I’m certainly not the best writer out there, but my essay had a great balance of evidence and analysis. I only wrote 2 pages because I keep my ideas and structure concise. I guess my scorers might have prefered quantity over quality? Who knows, but is it possible to request a re-score? My overall essay score was 6-3-6.
Well, such is the nature of the unpredictable new SAT. Sure, request a rescore.
I haven’t received mine yet í ½í¸¥, I’m extremely worried!
@DeeperBlue25 They just include pre-written advice based on the score they give you for that specific category instead of personalized criticism.
May I just interject:
The scoring rubric for the new SAT essay is considered very questionable in some circles, as are the low qualifications for their scorers.
Essentially, the new SAT essay is being used to weed out those for whom basic sentence-level construction in English is problematic. In the past, we’ve looked to the application essay for that, but given how much outside help certain people have been getting on those, they’re becoming a less reliable predictor of student linguistic ability.
So…the new essay is being considered a warning flag, not really a reliable indicator of student work. Don’t sweat it so much.
Did someone noticed that in the math section there is a question missing? there is 57 when there was supposed to be 58 that takes out 10 points out of our grade. Does someone has the same problem?
@care1997 if there is a question missing, it was probably omitted due to an error in the wording or logic of the question, and your scores would be assessed out of the remaining 57 questions. You’re not losing 10 points automatically or anything.
@DeeperBlue25 the problem is that if the question was deleted they must give me the point of the question. They cannot get 10 points down. I missed eleven and get a 680… when I was supposed to get 690.
@DeeperBlue25 that point will mean a 26 on the act rather than a 25 which is a lot in comparison.
If the question was erroneous, then it is just omitted, because you can’t get a correct answer. If you missed 11 out of 57, that’s better than if you missed 12 out of 58, so your score is not actually being detrimentally affected.
800 on chem!! so happy :’)
